“Nikko no Tabi. I Ro Ha Ni Ho He To.”—Explore Japanese history in the sanctuary of Nikko.
There are a lot of famous and popular places in Nikko, such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Futarasan-Jinja Shrine and Nikkozan Rinnoji Temple. These temples and shrines are included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. They are surrounded by solemn nature, which makes the area enigmatic. Its mysterious atmosphere has attracted many people for such a long time. People also visit Nikko because of the magnificent natural landscapes, such as Lake Chuzenji and kegon Falls.
The luxurious and solemn historical sites and natural landscapes, which change depending on the season, are drawn colorfully in Fudetabi Nikko.
The words, written by Sachiko HANASHIRO, make you feel a sense of realism. How she felt about the landmarks and landscapes... The words give you a feeling of traveling every time you turn the pages.
You can display it like a folding screen. It is also pleasant to display some of your favorite pages of it, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of four seasons.
The other images of Fudetabi are also posted on the “Image Gallery” of this website.

【Artist Profile】
Sachiko HANASHIRO
As an etegami artist, she has been a long-time driving force of etegami, which is a kind of hand-drawn postcards. She started using a kind of sketchbook like Fudetabi around 2000 to record her travel memories. She draws sketching at walking speed, therefore the drawings express the atmosphere of the places specifically, which is one of the main attractions of Fudetabi.
The former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications commended her for contribution the the letter writing culture in 2000, and she has been a judge of Nichibiren, a publicity sponsored exhibition, since 2007. She sometimes appears on TV as an etegami teacher.
