Asakusa is one of the popular sightseeing area in Tokyo. This area prospered as the entertainment district in the Edo period. When you get to Asakusa, you’ll feel the atmosphere of the Edo period. Lots of attractions, such as historical places and local foods, are drawn in Fudetabi Asakusa. A fun atmosphere is also drawn in it.
Fudetabi Asakusa-tour starts from Kaminarimon Gate, which is known as one of the signatures in Asakusa, with its giant red lantern. There are lots of fun ways to look around there. You can enjoy sightseeing with a professional guide of a Jinrikisha’s driver, or walking around where you are interested in. You might feel as if you explored Asakusa, a Japanese downtown, from Fudetabi.
The red covers represents the lively atmosphere of Asakusa. It appears that displaying it like a folding screen make the room brighten because the paintings are colorful and joyful.

【Artist Profile】
Sachiko HANASHIRO
As an etegami artist, she has been a long-time driving force of etegami, which is a kind of hand-drawn postcards. She started using a kind of sketchbook like Fudetabi around 2000 to record her travel memories. She draws sketching at walking speed, therefore the drawings express the atmosphere of the places specifically, which is one of the main attractions of Fudetabi.
The former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications commended her for contribution the the letter writing culture in 2000, and she has been a judge of Nichibiren, a publicity sponsored exhibition, since 2007. She sometimes appears on TV as an etegami teacher.
